NXT No Mercy 2023 was perhaps the most important show of the year for NXT after Stand and Deliver during the WrestleMania season. NXT No Mercy saw some match of the year candidates , new champions crowned and some possible farewells. The biggest one of them all is most likely going to be of the now former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo Hayes has been in NXT for over 2 years and he has been one of the faces that has built NXT back from scratch. Carmelo Hayes has achieved everything in NXT. Let’s look at the options that Carmelo Hayes has after NXT No Mercy
Stay in NXT and start the feud against Trick Williams
Carmelo Hayes has done everything in NXT except one thing and that is to have a feud against his best friend Trick Williams. Trick Williams and Melo have been together since the first day and at the start Trick Williams was nothing more than a sidekick but in the recent past he has been on his own and at NXT No Mercy he won the NXT North American Championship. At the end of the show it was shown that Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams were hugging each other but the eyes of Carmelo Hayes were on the NXT North American Championship. This would be a Money feud and Shawn Michaels could take his time. This match will main event any NXT PPV
Go to Raw and Challenge Gunther for Intercontinental Championship
Carmelo Hayes could go to the main roster and even here there are 2 options. The first one is where he gets called up to Raw and he goes into a feud against Gunther now that he has faced hig biggest nemesis in Ilja Dragunov. Carmelo Hayes knows the physicality to expect from Gunther because Ilja Dragunov is like him. He would go straight to the top and Gunther would need a worthy challenger to face for his Intercontinental Championship. This would immediately take Carmelo Hayes to a wider audience. And the matches that they would have would be some of the best matches of the year. He would not win the Championship but get noticed by everyone on Raw and the fans.
Go to SmackDown and win the United States Championship
Carmelo Hayes could go to SmackDown which has been the premier show for WWE over the past 5 years. The audience for SmackDown is way more than any wrestling show in the world. And he would do extremely well under the pressure. He could challenge Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship and the WWE fans would love to see this clash of generations where Rey Mysterio who is 30 years experienced in this business vs Carmelo Hayes who is not even 30 years old. It will be a banger and Carmelo Hayes would get to learn so much from Rey Mysterio and he could win the United States Championship. This would make him feel important and he will be known by close to 2.5 Million TV viewers weekly.
All 3 options are great and it is up to WWE, Shawn Michaels and Triple H as to what they would like to do. They have to continue the momentum of Carmelo Hayes they just have to find the best way to do it.
