NXT Heatwave was one of the biggest NXT PPVs of the year. It was held the night after WWE Money in the Bank. This PPV took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto Canada in front of 11,000 fans which is one of the biggest crowds that these new crop of NXT superstars have performed in. This show had 6 Matches and all were fantastic. This PPV blew Money in the Bank out of the water.
Let’s look at the Results of WWE Money in the Bank
Karmen Petrovic and Arianna Grace beat Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx
Out of the 6 Matches at this PPV, 3 of the Matches were women’s matches. Shawn Michaels knows how to book women better than anybody in professional wrestling. The 4 women in this match have not performed in front of such a big crowd ever and they had a very good match. This was an 8 minute match where the women showed that they deserve more opportunities at singles matches. Karmen Petrovic and Arianna Grace beat their opponents and both women will now set their sights on Gold in NXT.
Oba Femi beat Wes Lee for NXT North American Championship
This was a match with very high stakes for Wes Lee. He had to beat Oba Femi because if Wes Lee lost then he would not get another shot at the championship as long as Oba Femi is champion. This match was one of the best matches of the night. This was a 17 minute wrestling classic. Oba Femi has only been wrestling for a year and he has been having banger after Banger. In this match Oba Femi dominated for some time but Wes Lee made a terrific comeback and he threw everything at Oba Femi but at the end of the incredible match , Oba Femi won the match. Oba Femi will go on to have one of the best title Reigns in NXT.
Kelani Jordan beat Sol Ruca for NXT Women’s North American Championship
This was the second women’s match on the show. This was for the newly made NXT Women’s North American Championship. Kelani Jordan is the inaugural champion and she had a match against her friend in Sol Ruca. These 2 women absolutely killed it as they showed that the WWE PC is a development pool of some of the best wrestlers. Sol Ruca hit a 450 Lariat to Kelani Jordan. Both women showed their athletic skills and the crowd was cheering for them throughout the 12 minutes of this amazing wrestling match. Kelani Jordan beat Sol Ruca and retained her championship. The NXT Women’s North American Championship is a made championship after this match.
Nathan Frazer and Axiom beat Chase University for NXT Tag Team Championship
This was the match for the NXT Tag Team Championship. It was between the champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom vs Chase University. This was one of the best tag team matches in WWE all year. There was some tension between Nathan Frazer and Axiom but they had a barn burner against Chase University who had their best match in NXT. Andre Chase and Duke Hudson were representing Chase University. This match went on for 14 minutes. The future is bright for all these men. Some of the moves in this match were truly mind blowing.
Roxanne Perez beat Lola Vice for NXT Women’s Championship
This was the co main event of the show. It was between Roxanne Perez vs Lola Vice. Two women with completely different styles of wrestling. Roxanne Perez is the more traditional wrestling superstar where as Lola Vice is the physical type of wrestler as she has a background in UFC. This was the biggest match in the career of Lola Vice. This match was great as both women gave it their all. Roxanne Perez had to use everything to win this match. Lola Vice showed that she belonged at the big stage and she will be a champion before the end of the year. It is looking like no one can stop Roxanne Perez but there is a certain someone by the name of Giulia waiting to be unleashed.
Ethan Page beat Trick Williams, Shawn Spears and Je’Von Evans for NXT Championship
It was time for the main event and what a main event it was. Shawn Michaels was cooking a masterpiece with this show. This was a Fatal Four Way match and all the four men had something to prove. Trick Williams tried hard to retain his championship. Ethan Page was the smartest one as he did not go after anyone specifically. Trick Williams was trying to get past Je’Von Evans and Shawn Spears was looking to make sure that Trick Williams did not win. This was an 18 minutes 5 star match. Shawn Michaels gave all the 4 men time to shine and show what they have got to the world. The finish to this match was spectacular as Trick Williams hit his finish on Ethan Page but he accidentally pinned Shawn Spears for the win and Ethan Page is the new NXT Champion. Trick Williams would want his NXT Championship back. As the show was going off the air, there was a shot of Joe Hendry to close the show. This means big things for WWE and TNA.
