Top 5 records set by Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians are one of the most effective teams in the history of the IPL; only the Chennai Super Kings have the next win rate than them. Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title five times - in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Hitman Rohit Sharma was undoubtedly their best captain with five IPL titles and one Champions League T20 trophy. In their almost two-decade journey through the IPL, the Mumbai Indians have set endless benchmarks and records for other teams to see up to.

1. MI hold the record for registering the largest IPL victories

MI hold the record for registering the largest victory by runs in the IPL history. They defeated Delhi Daredevils (presently known as Delhi Capitals) by 146 runs in the 2017 edition. MI had posted a mammoth 212/3. The Delhi Daredevils were bundled out for just 66.

Besides, MI also has the record for producing the largest IPL victory by balls remaining, which was 87 balls remaining against Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL 2008. In their home match, MI chased down the 68-run target in 5.3 overs after losing two wickets.

2. Best bowling figures in the IPL history

It was Alzarri Joseph's IPL debut match where he started bowling in the powerplay and got a wicket on his first IPL delivery. It was the IPL 2019 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad. Joseph finished the game with bowling figures of 3.4-1-12-6 as Mumbai Indians successfully defended 136 runs by winning the match by 40 runs. Joseph broke an 11-year-old record as Pakistan left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir recorded 4-0-14-6 for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2008.
