bowling performance and top-order batters' powerful batting performances, Mumbai
Indians just thrashed Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede Stadium during
the 25th match of the IPL 2024.
Home captain Hardik Pandya chose
to field first. After losing two early wickets, opener and skipper Faf du
Plessis had a crucial 82-run partnership for the third wicket with Rajat
Patidar. Both Du Plessis (61 off 40 balls) and Patidar (50 off 24 balls) scored
important 50s.
Although the other RCB batters
failed to reach double-digit scores, Dinesh Karthik had another great
batting performance with 53 not out in just 23 balls.
RCB finally managed to score
196/8 in 20 overs. For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah finished with the bowling
figures of 4-0-21-5.
In reply, the Mumbai Indians’
batters thrashed the RCB batters as the chase wasn’t close to challenging for
the home team. Openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma had a 101-run first-wicket
partnership in less than nine overs. While Kishan scored 69 off 34 balls, and
Rohit scored 38 off 24 balls, Suryakumar Yadav smashed 52 runs in just 19 balls
with five fours and four sixes.
Mumbai Indians took only 15.3
overs to chase the 197 runs target. Captain Hardik Pandya was not out on 21
runs in just six balls, while Tilak Varma scored 16 not out in ten balls. MI
won the match by seven wickets.
