During the crucial Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings (MI
vs CSK) match in the 29th game of the IPL 2024, although MI suffered a 20-run
defeat, the former MI skipper hit a brilliant century.
Chasing down the target of 207 runs, Mumbai Indians replied
with 186/6 in 20 overs. Apart from the former MI skipper Rohit Sharma, only his
opening partner Ishan Kishan (23) and Tilak Varma (31) reached the 20-run mark
in that chase.
After completing his fifty runs in 30 balls, Rohit took 61
balls to reach his triple-figure score. At the end of that innings, the MI right-handed
opening batter scored 105 not out in 63 balls with the help of 11 fours and
five sixes.

- It was Rohit’s sixth T20 hundred as an opening batter. However, it was his first IPL century as an opening batter. The right-handed Indian cricketer became the 12th player to hit at least six T20 centuries as an opener.

Rohit Sharma’s second T20 century ended in a losing cause
- It was Rohit’s second T20 century that ended in a losing cause. His first T20 century ended in a losing cause during his 2015 Dharamsala T20I century against South Africa. Out of his eight T20 hundreds, his teams have won four times, lost twice, and one had a tied result (for India against Afghanistan in Bengaluru 2024) which his team won in the second Super Over.
