Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli is in dream form with the bat. In the last league stage game of the IPL 2023, Kohli set up a new record for most IPL centuries with his seventh hundred in this competition's history. In this case, the 34-year-old right-handed batter broke the record of Chris Gayle’s six IPL centuries.
It was a do-or-die game for RCB to qualify for the Playoffs in the IPL 2023, who faced Gujarat Titans at Bengaluru last Sunday (21 May) night. After Titans chose to field first, Kohli’s 60-ball century guided RCB to the first batting total of 197/5 in 20 overs.
Kohli scored 101 off 61 balls with the help of 13 fours and only six. It was his seventh IPL century and eighth T20 hundred. Moreover, it was the first time Kohli smashed hundreds in two consecutive T20 innings.

RCB lost due to Shubman Gill’s brilliant century
Like Kohli, Gujarat Titans’ opener Shubman Gill also celebrated his two consecutive IPL centuries. Gill’s 52-ball 104 not out helped GT to chase the target in 19.1 overs after losing four wickets. It ultimately destroyed RCB’s last hope for qualifying for the Playoffs of the IPL 2023.
After Shikhar Dhawan in 2020 and Jos Buttler in 2022, Kohli and Gill became the third and fourth batters respectively to enjoy centuries in two consecutive IPL innings.
