The Premier League is back with Gameweek 5 after the midweek Champions League fixtures. With the Premier League, the deadline for FPL is also approaching. The FPL Managers are getting ready with their squad after making the transfers and using the wildcard. This time, the deadline is on Friday instead of the regular Saturday deadline.
Here we are with our top 5 midfield picks for Gameweek 5:
1. Mohammed Salah (£12.5m), Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
One of the most consistent scorers in the Premier League and hence in FPL, Mohammed Salah is yet again our top pick for this gameweek. The Egyptian has already scored or assisted in 3 of the 4 fixtures and looks set for yet another haul.
A game at Anfield against Crystal Palace provides a perfect opportunity for Salah to add to his goals tally. Though Palace defeated Spurs last week 3-0, the match against Liverpool will be no pushover. Salah is currently owned by 54% of the FPL managers and not having him could prove to be a risk going ahead.
2. Mason Greenwood (£7.7m), West Ham United vs Manchester United
The United youngster Greenwood has had a great start to the season, having scored or assisted in every fixture till now. With Ronaldo’s inclusion the attack has just become stronger which will help Greenwood get more points.
After being benched in midweek’s UCL defeat against Young Boys in the Champions League, he is expected to start at the London Stadium. He is currently owned by 18.7% of FPL managers and has seen a rise in price by 0.2 million since the start.
3. Ferran Torres (£7.2m), Manchester City vs Southampton
Going with a Manchester City asset is a risk in FPL. This is what any seasoned FPL player will tell you due to the infamous Pep Roulette. However, Ferran Torres has been one of the first names on Pep’ team sheet this season.
The Spaniard has been playing in a False 9 position this season which has boosted his goalscoring returns. A match against Southampton proves yet another chance for Torres to excel and reward his owners in FPL.
4. Demarai Gray (£5.7m), Aston Villa vs Everton
Demarai Gray was nowhere near the favourite midfielders to have in FPL, but the Everton midfielder has impressed in the early starts. Starting at a mere 5.5m, Gray has already seen an increase to 5.7m come the Gameweek 5. He has been selected by only 14.8% owners and could prove to be a great differential.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin out for 3 weeks, Gray will have added responsibility in attack which could prove useful for the FPL Managers.
5. Ismaila Sarr (£6.0m), Norwich vs Watford
Ismaila Sarr is a differential pick for Gameweek which could reward the risk takers. Sarr has been impressive for Watford even though the results have not gone their way. The 6 million priced midfielder faces a Norwich side which is yet to win in this season’s Premier League.
This could be a great chance for Sarr to score or assist. With all the attention on the premium forwards, it is necessary to have a budget midfielder to use the funds elsewhere. Sarr can prove to be an excellent pick going ahead.
