Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricketer Nitish Rana created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last Thursday (28th April) night as the versatile left-handed batter became the first player to score at least one 50 in all the top six batting positions for an IPL team.
It was the 41st IPL 2022 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium, where DC claimed a four-wicket win. While KKR were struggling in the first innings of that game, Nitish Rana scored 57 runs off 34 balls (3 fours and 4 sixes) at the no.6 position, and it helped KKR to manage the first innings total of 146/9 (20 overs).
It was Rana’s first 50+ score in his IPL career at the no.6 batting position. While it was his 15th half-century in his IPL career, the left-handed batter hit his 11th fifty for KKR.
Rana joined KKR before the IPL 2018, and he has played crucial and versatile roles as a batter in the team. For KKR, Rana has batted in all the top six batting positions, and he has now hit at least one half-century in each of these batting positions.
Rana is the first player to record at least one 50+ score in all the top six batting positions for an IPL team.
