List of IPL hit wickets

Hit wicket is one of the very unusual dismissals in cricket as we have seen this dismissal very rare in the game. While the Indian Premier League (IPL) is more than a decade older, we have already experienced more than 10 hit wicket dismissals in this tournament.

Just like other dismissals, the hit wicket is also a part of the dismissals in the MCC law (35.1 Out Hit Wicket).

In the IPL history, we have already experienced a total of 14 hit wickets. Here we are briefly talking about IPL hit wickets.

S Sreesanth and Andre Russell have taken two hit-wickets each in their IPL career

Indian cricketer S Sreesanth was the first IPL bowler to dismiss more than one batter through the hit wicket dismissals. After Mumbai Indians cricketer Musavir Khote became the first batter to get out in this fashion during Sreesanth’s over in IPL 2008, the right-arm pacer recorded his second hit wicket in IPL 2009 after dismissing Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq.

Later, the Caribbean cricketer Andre Russell became the second bowler to pick up two hit-wickets in an IPL career. While Riyan Parag (Rajasthan Royals) was his first hit wicket victim in IPL 2019, Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians) was the second victim on that list in IPL 2020.

Batter record hit wicket after a half-century

In the IPL history, only the Australian cricketer David Warner recorded a hit wicket after scoring a half-century. During the IPL 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Warner was out after his hit wicket incident during an over of Kings XI Punjab’s left-arm spinner Axar Patel’s.
