Kolkata Knight Riders IPL Records

Kolkata Knight Riders is a team in the IPL and they have been there since the start in 2008. Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL title twice and are one time runners up of the tournament. This is a team which was not great in the beginning Three years but since 2011 they have picked up their game and become a top team in the IPL.

They have played some amazing cricket in these 14 seasons of the IPL and therefore they have some records to their name as well. They have the unique ability of bouncing back as well. So, let’s look at a few records that Kolkata Knight Riders hold in the IPL.

Highest opening partnership in the IPL

Since 2011, KKR had an amazing opening partnership with Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa at the top of the order and they were making loads of runs together for KKR and giving them great starts regularly. One such instance was against Gujarat Lions  However, from the 2017 season the KKR think tank changed the opening combination with Gautam now batting with Chris Lynn and during this match the Gujarat Lions made a very competitive 183 runs in their 20 overs but the KKR openers made the target seem so easy as they chased it down with all 10 wickets remaining , Gautam made a wonderful 76 runs and Chris Lynn blazed away to 93 off just 41 balls with 8 sixes.

Highest successful run chase in an IPL final

This record is very special to KKR and all its fans as they chased a mammoth 200 in the 2014 IPL final to win their 2nd title. While batting first Punjab made 199 runs with the help of Wriddhiman Saha who hit an outstanding century to take Punjab to a good position but the KKR batters started attacking from the first over itself and Manish Pandey was the star with a tremendous 94 runs and winning KKR the final and creating history in the process.

Bowling out RCB for the lowest total in IPL history

This was a match that neither KKR nor RCB will ever forget for Two different reasons obviously. While batting first in that match KKR could only manage to make a mere 131 runs in their 20 overs and it looked like the famed RCB batting line-up will easily chase it down but other things happened. The KKR fast bowlers bowled out of their skin and dismissed the RCB team for 49 runs and set a record that RCB won’t be proud of.

Highest number of consecutive wins in IPL

What KKR managed to do in the 2nd half of the 2014 season was nothing short of extraordinary. During the first leg of the IPL they were at the bottom half of the table and all looked lost and they needed a miracle to go through and that’s exactly what happened. They won all 7 of their league matches and finished 2nd in the points table and they won the Qualifier 1 and the final as we to win the IPL in 2014.

Most Runs and Wickets for KKR

Gautam Gambhir who was the captain of KKR for 7 seasons holds the record for hitting the most runs for KKR with 3035 runs in 108 innings and he is followed by Robin Uthappa with 2439 runs in 84 innings. The highest Individual score for KKR is 158 runs that Brendon McCullum hit in the first match of the IPL.  In the bowling department Sunil Naraine  leads the pack all the way with a whopping 143 wickets to his name for KKR and he has been extremely consistent year after year.

Highest and lowest totals by KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders have had some batting innings where they have made huge scores in their 20 overs and completely destroyed the opposition bowling. Their highest team total was against Punjab in 2018 where they made 245 runs while batting first. And the lowest total registered by KKR is just 67 runs against Mumbai Indians in 2008.
