This was the third last race of the season and this was a race that all the drivers look forward to every year. This is one of the best racing tracks of the year and the crowds are also top notch. Sao Paulo F1 Grand Prix has been extended till 2030 in the Formula 1 calendar. Max Verstappen was looking for his 17th win of the season and the other drivers were trying to get that number 2 and 3 slots. There are only the Las Vegas GP and the Abu Dhabi GP left.
Let’s look at the Results for the Sao Paulo F1 Grand Prix
Race Results
Before the race even started it was Charles Leclerc who was out of the race and this was a very Disappointing end. And on the other end a nasty collision between Alexander Albon and Kevin Magnussen and they both were out of the race. A Red Flag has been called as the debris was too much and the race was suspended for the time being. Lap 7 and the face resumes and Max Verstappen is at the lead Followed by Lando Norris. Lap 9 and it is a great battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris for the lead. It is Lap 11 and Max Verstappen is now 2 seconds ahead and the battle is over. Lap 14 and Fernando Alonso is in P3 with Lewis Hamilton behind followed by George Russell and Sergio Perez who gets past him in Lap 16.
It is Lap 19 and Sergio Perez is now in P4 after he overtakes Lewis Hamilton. This has been the best phase for Perez in the race. Lap 21 and both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell pit followed by Sergio Perez in Lap 22 who comes out behind Lewis Hamilton. It is Lap 25 of the race and Zhou Guanyu is out of the race as well due to an engine problem. This makes it 4 Drivers who are out. By Lap 27, Lance Stroll overtakes George Russell which is devastating for him. Lap 29 and Carlos Sainz avoids a collision with Yuki Tsonuda and the 2 Mercedes Drivers are now battling for P4. It is Lap 32 and George Russell cannot get past Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz is behind them. On the other side Sergio Perez is chasing Fernando Alonso for P3. Lap 35 and Carlos Sainz gets past George Russell and with the pace he has he will get past Lewis Hamilton as well. And by Lap 37, Lando Norris gets the fastest lap of the race but is still 5 seconds behind Max Verstappen.
It is Lap 41 of the race and Fernando Alonso has got away from Sergio Perez and is in P3. Valteri Bottas is out of the race so that makes it 5 Drivers who have been ruled out. By Lap 44, Pierre Gasly is in P8 by getting past George Russell. In Lap 5, Pierre Gasly gets the fastest lap of the race and is getting near Lewis Hamilton. The worst has happened In Lap 58 as George Russell has been forced to quit the race and Mercedes have had a horrible day. By Lap 63, Fernando Alonso is defending very well against Sergio Perez and clings to the P3 spot for now. Max Verstappen wins the Sao Paulo F1 Grand Prix and this is the 17th race win of the season for him. This is as dominant a season as it has been for any driver. And Lando Norris does very well for P2 and he gets the fastest lap of the race. And Fernando Alonso used all his experience to get the final podium position.
