With the Premier League back after a 2-week break, so is the FPL. The FPL managers will be looking to optimize their squad as the journey towards season end starts. There have been many double gameweek announcements in January along with potential blanks which has only increased the confusion for FPL managers.
Gameweek 24 comes with a favorable fixture list for most of the big hitters which makes the captaincy choice even more crucial for getting a huge green arrow. Along with the captaincy choices having the right differentials helps in rank increase as the season reaches the boiling point.
Here we are with the captaincy choices for Gameweek 24:
1) Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City vs Brentford
The Manchester City talisman is in fine form again, which makes one of the popular captaincy choices for this gameweek. The midfielder hit a wonder goal against Chelsea in last GW, emulating the flair he is best known for.
Brentford have been a poor team when it comes to away games, and De Bruyne holds the potential to punish them which strengthens his candidacy for captain. Manchester City's attack goes through Kevin De Bruyne and hence he will be the best bet when it comes to options from Manchester City to take in FPL.
2) Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool vs Leicester
The Liverpool fullback is a vital cog to the Reds’ attack which makes him an option to consider in FPL. Liverpool will host a struggling Leicester side at Anfield in gameweek 24. The Foxes have been leaking goals which gives a chance to Trent to capitalize with an attacking output.
The possibility of a clean sheet and an assist is high this gameweek for TAA which makes him an exciting captaincy option in FPL. With the potential return of Salah too, the chance of an attacking return only increases for the fullback.
3) Jarrod Bowen – West Ham vs Watford
Bowen has been in exceptional form this season for West Ham and a match against Watford makes him an option to consider for captaincy. In a week, where there are multiple captaincy options, the captaincy will be spread. Bowen can be a good shout for captaincy at home against a leaky Watford side if one can think of.
West Ham have a good record at home and captaining Bowen might be one to look out for especially for the ones searching for a jump in rankings. While De Bruyne will be the popular choice, Bowen can be a good differential captain who has been delivering this season.
Differential picks for Gameweek 24
1) Andrew Robertson (5.1% ownership) vs Leicester City
The Liverpool fullback is often in the shadow when it comes to FPL because of the attacking ability of Alexander-Arnold. However, Robertson has grown into a key player for Liverpool over the last few gameweeks. The defender has returned 23 points in his last 2 gameweeks which includes 3 assists.
Robertson could be a great differential if one has the budget for a premium defender, Trent, Salah and Robertson could be a great Ljverpool template in the fixtures ahead which look enticing. At 5.1% ownership, a haul for Robertson would go a long way in getting a green arrow.
2) Odsonne Edouard (7.2% ownership) vs Norwich
The Palace forward is in the form of his own having returned a huge 30 points in his last 4 gameweeks. He is expected to lead the line against Norwich, who have been poor this season. Edouard could turn out to be a great one-week punt for those looking for a leap in their rankings.
Edouard amassed 14 points in the previous fixture against Norwich which included a goal and 2 assists. Edouard considering the form that he is in can be a great one-week differential pick while also being the budget enabler.
3) Emiliano Buendia (1.4% ownership) vs Leeds United
The Argentinian has been in decent form this season for Villa having returned 2 goals and 3 assists in the season so far. Buendia showed his worth in the last match with a goal against Everton. After the signings of Digne and Coutinho, Villa look like a good attacking side which makes Buendia a great differential option.
Against a Leeds side which has been poor in the season so far, Buendia could be a great punt which if worked could lead to a huge jump in rankings. Leeds is often known to leave spaces at the back which Buendia can capitalize on to get another attacking return. At 1.4% ownership, Buendia could be a great differential in the games ahead too, as Villa have a good run of fixtures.
