When the Indian Premier League will be on its final showdown, the Indian women’s cricket team will be competing with Aussie Women's cricket team, they will play their first-ever day-night (pink ball) Tests at the WACA. The one-off Test will be played from September 30 to October 3. Perth, which is the scene for the Test has not however facilitated a day-night game as however, so it'll be a lady pink-ball Test for the ground as well.
The India-Australia pink ball Test will be only the second such match to be held within the history of women’s cricket with the primary one being played between Australia and Britain in Sydney in November 2017. The match finished in a draw. It'll be interesting to see on the off chance that the second day-night Test produces a result, along side a few energizing contests.
India and Australia last played a Test match 15 years back in 2006. It was a disproportionate undertaking as the domestic group whipped the guests by an innings and four runs. Lisa Sthalekar was the Player of the Match for her all-around effort which included 72 runs with the bat and five wickets with the ball.
India women's opening batter Smriti Mandhana has said that she never felt that she would experience a day-night Test. "Frankly, when I used to watch day-night Tests of men, I actually never felt that I would be able to experience this moment - it is wrong to say "I" at the moment - that the Indian team will be able to experience the moment. So, when it got declared, I was like - Oh, wow. That's going to be crazy," said by Mandhana in an interview with ESPNCricinfo.
Apart from England and Australia, no other women’s groups play Test cricket on a standard basis. Much obliged to the Ashes, these two groups get to play one Test in each Ashes’ series. Going forward, it is anticipated that India will too be seen playing the longest format against the two teams.
“As players, we’ve said for a long time that we’d adore playing more Test matches,” Australia captain Meg Lanning said. The Australia captain included, “It’s an energizing prospect and I know India is up for the challenge and truly willing to play that format.”
So, the Test cricket season isn’t yet finished for India. It’s going to be a treat to watch this test as both teams have some amazing players like Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Ellyse Perry and the captains of both the teams. I am sure this Indian women team is not less than the men’s team and they can also beat Australia at their home.
