The previous ICC T20 World Cup was supposed to be held in India in 2021 but due to the COVID Pandemic, it had to be shifted to the UAE which was not ideal for anyone and it was with limited fans as well. The quality of cricket was amazing as always but it wasn’t the same feel and atmosphere like it would have been had the tournament been held in India. Now, we look forward to yet another ICC T20 World Cup which will be held in Australia with hopefully full capacity stands.
Out of all the beautiful and historic venues to play cricket in Australia, the ICC has chosen 7 cities to host the World Cup in Australia later this year. And every one of these stadiums is a work of art.
So, let’s look at the 7 host cities and the stadiums the teams will be playing in -
Melbourne Cricket Ground (Melbourne)
The second biggest cricket stadium in the world and the iconic MCG is sure to be one of the major venues to host the World Cup and the final will also be held at this iconic stadium. This has been a center of excellence for many decades for not just Australia but all cricketing nations around the world. It is so big that some of the players who are not used to playing at the highest level will get intimidated just by the sheer size of that thing. One of the biggest matches in world cricket, India vs Pakistan will also be held on the 23rs October at the MCG.
Sydney Cricket Ground (Sydney)
It may not be as big and may not have more than 100,000 people who can sit and watch the match , but the iconic SCG is also one of the premier cricket stadiums in the world. The opening match between Australia and New Zealand will be held at the SCG and the fans will be treated to some amazing cricket in the World Cup later this year. Also one of the two semi finals will be held here so the best teams will play at this ground.

Adelaide Oval (Adelaide)
Without any doubt the most beautiful and picturesque ground in the whole of Australia and the sunset view of this stadium is unlike anything else one can see. It is also one of the best cricketing stadiums not just in Australia but in the world. India will play a group match against Bangladesh at this stadium as well as the other semi final will be held at this Beauty along with the SCG. The fans will be able to see the best players from around the world.
Optus Stadium (Perth)
This is the new stadium which has been built in Perth, replacing the iconic WACA stadium which used to be a fortress for Australia for years. The new stadium is huge and the pitch is also good for both batting and bowling. India vs South Africa will be played at this stadium in Perth as well.
The Gabba (Brisbane)
The stadium which was once the fortress for Australia in test cricket is also one of the venues to host this edition of the ICC T20 World Cup. This stadium is not one of the biggest but batting is tough here so the bowlers enjoy it here. England vs New Zealand will be played at the Gabba during this World Cup.
Blundstone Arena (Bellerive)
This is one of the two stadiums in this tournament that not many people around the world may have heard of so it will be their first Chance to take a look at the ground and the playing conditions as well. The fans of this area will get to see good cricketing nations like South Africa and Bangladesh.
GMHBA Stadium (Geelong)
This Stadium is also unknown to cricketing fans and this world Cup will be the first time, they will get to experience how good are the playing field. The final qualifying matches that will be played before the main draw starts will be played at this Stadium in Geelong.
