In a previous article we talked about why India is not able to win an ICC tournament and we gave our reasons for the same. However, any problem must have a list of solutions as well and in this article I will try my best to give some possible solutions that India can apply to make itself a great side in T20Is and win an ICC T20I World Cup because the ODI team is very good and in the World Cup next year in India, the team has a great chance of winning it.
Before we talk about the solutions as to what changes India should make in order to win a T20I World Cup, I want to say that whenever India goes out in the knockouts of a tournament and the hearts of 140 crore Indians are hurt and it has been far too long and high time that India win another T20I World Cup. Let’s look at the changes below
Change the opening partnership
We will start right at the top because a good attacking opening pair in T20IS helps a long way for a team to put a big Score on the board and if both the openers play with freedom in the first 6 overs then the middle order does not that much of pressure and can attack from ball 1. KL Rahul is not the one and Rohit Sharma is not that either and India needs young blood like Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill etc.
Young Players who are fearless
This is a very important change that India has to make in its T20 set-up that players who are fearless and are not afraid to go after the opposition bowling from ball 1 should be picked and not those players who have the baggage of past failures. Similarly in bowling, India needs fast bowlers who are full of pace like Umran Malik, Kuldeep Sen etc and not the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami etc.
Have a different management for T20IS
One team management for all formats is clearly not working for India and so after the debacle in the current World Cup, it is high time that India changes its management in this format starting with the captain and they should have someone like Hardik Pandya as the captain who will not be afraid to take big decisions which will benefit the team in the long run. And possibly a separate coach for this format who specializes in T20Is.
