All of this started with CM Punk going to the podcast of Ariel Helwani, and over there, they did a two-hour podcast where Punk answered all the questions, and a lot of the questions were about AEW. Ariel did a very good job at asking all the questions that the fans wanted answered. All of that happened tonight as a result of that interview, and what transpired on the show tonight was nothing short of an embarrassment.

Let’s talk about how AEW shot themselves in the foot on Dynamite.

Tony Khan buried AEW

This has to be the most embarrassing and disappointing night in the history of AEW. The Young Bucks were going to air footage from all over last year. This all happened because they were not happy with what CM Punk said on the podcast, saying that AEW was a joke and Tony Khan was a clown. They announced this segment after WrestleMania 40 on Saturday at midnight. The fans were genuinely curious as to what was going to be in this footage, and some were advising AEW against airing it. Tony Khan did not listen to anybody, and he was sure that he was going to embarrass Punk. WrestleMania 40 was one of the best of all time, and this made Tony Khan even more mad.

All wrestling fans were curious more than anything, and this was a good strategy to pop a rating for one show. They had to use the name of a man who is no longer in the company and who works for WWE. CM Punk was also waiting, and he knew what he said was the truth. And when the footage aired, all wrestling fans knew that CM Punk did not lie one bit in that interview. It went down exactly as he said, and fans gained more respect for CM Punk. The fans at the arena were chanting for CM Punk when this footage was being aired. This is how bad it was for them. They realised that this move had backfired on them, and thus they have begun to copyright all the clips of that footage on Twitter. Tony Khan should have acted like an adult and not a 5-year-old child who wanted to complain after being hurt.

This move has damaged AEW more than Brawl In or Brawl Out. This was a deliberate move, and CM Punk and WWE are the ones laughing all the way to the bank. Drew McIntyre will be the happiest man as he will get more material to use against CM Punk, and WWE will make millions of dollars thanks to AEW and Tony Khan. They have a PPV in two weeks called Dynasty, but there is zero excitement from the fans. This is how AEW shot themselves in the foot tonight. It was sad to watch as a wrestling fan, and everyone wants them to do well, but with WWE being led by Triple H, the competition will get harder for Tony Khan. The damage has been done.
