The 31-year-old American athlete Ryan Crouser created history on Saturday (3rd August) by completing his gold medal hat-trick in the Summer Olympics. With his gold medal in the men’s shot put at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Crouser became the first shot putter to win three gold medals in the history of the Summer Olympics.
Three-time world champion (including one indoor) Ryan Crouser previously won gold medals in the men’s shot put events at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics. So, there was no doubt about his success at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The world record and Olympic record holder Crouser produced his season-best performance as his third throw of the night managed a distance of 22.90m and proved to be the best throw of the night.
With his gold medal success at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Crouser became the first shot putter in the history of the Summer Olympics to win three gold medals.

Joe Kovacs won his third Olympic silver medal
In the meantime, another American Joe Kovacs completed his Olympic silver medal hat-trick by securing his third Olympic silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Although Joe Kovacs managed the same level as bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell (both recorded 22.15m), Kovacs was chosen for the silver medal based on the second-best throw of the night. While Campbell had the second-best throw of 20.00m, Kovacs’ second-best throw managed a distance of 21.71m.
Previously, Kovacs clinched silver medals at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Meanwhile, Rajindra Campbell became the first Jamaican to win a medal in the men’s shot put event in the history of the Summer Olympics.

The previous two Olympic bronze medallists, New Zealander Tom Walsh, had no successful throw on the night.
Only Indian shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor failed to qualify for the final as he managed the 29th place in the qualification round.
