The 21-year-old Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat claimed a bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57kg wrestling event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. With this medal, he became the youngest Indian to win an individual Summer Olympic medal.
Last Friday (9th August) night, Aman Sehrawat dominantly beat Puerto Rican Darian Cruz (13-5) to claim the bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57kg wrestling event. It was India’s sixth medal and fifth bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

At the age of 21 years and 24 days, Sehrawat created history by becoming the youngest Indian to win an individual Summer Olympic medal. Badminton star PV Sindhu was the previous record holder in this category with a silver medal in the women’s singles badminton at the Rio 2016 at the age of 21 years, one month, and 14 days.

Aman Sehrawat's performances at the Paris 2024 Olympics
In the Paris 2024 Olympics, Aman Sehrawat started with a dominant victory against Egyptian Gamal Mohamed (10-1) in the Round of 16.
Later, in the quarterfinal, Sehrawat outclassed Albanian Zelimkhan Abakarov (12-0).
However, in the semifinal, Sehrawat had no answer against the dominant Japanese wrestler Rei Higuchi (10-0).
In the bronze medal match, Sehrawat overpowered Puerto Rican Darian Cruz (13-5) to secure a bronze medal for his country.
Sehrawat became the seventh men’s wrestler and the eighth overall wrestler to claim an Olympic medal for India.
