The 23-year-old American runner Cole Hocker stunned in the men’s 1500m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics by winning the gold medal with an Olympic record.
It was a close battle in the men’s 1500m final. Hocker finished the race in 3 minutes and 27.65 seconds to snatch the gold medals from the event's favorites. It was the new Olympic record as he beat the defending champion Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s previous Olympic record of 3:28.32 minutes (Tokyo 2020 Olympics). The Norwegian runner failed to manage a podium finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics as he claimed fourth place (3:28.24 minutes).
I was capable of it: Cole Hocker
Although it was a shocking result, Hocker doesn’t feel the same way.
Hocker said, according to the AP, “If you’ve been following my season, you knew I was capable of it. But still, things had to go my way today.”
