Raiza Dhillon: Early life
Raiza Dhillon was born on 20th April 2004. She is from Chandigarh. While her grandfather was a chairman of the district council (a village in Haryana’s Karnal district), Raiza’s mother Gul Dhilon is a village head.
Raiza’s mother introduced her to multiple sports, including tennis and swimming. However, she chose shooting sports after being closely associated with hunting guns, which her father and grandfather used. Although she is always against hunting, she likes guns.
Junior career achievements
In the ISSF Junior World Championships 2021 in Lima, Raiza’s skeet women’s team won the gold medal. In the 2023 edition in Changwon, she won a silver medal in the skeet women's event.
In the Asian Championships 2023 in Changwon, Raiza’s skeet mixed team junior won the gold medal, while she also secured a silver in the skeet women’s junior event.
Early shining senior career
In the Asian Championships 2024 in Kuwait City, Raiza won a silver medal in the skeet women’s event. Her skeet mixed team also clinched the bronze medal in the same competition.
How did Raiza Dhillon qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics?
During the Asian Shotgun Championships 2023, Raiza Dhillon became the first Indian female to secure a Summer Olympics quota in the skeet event after securing a silver medal.
Later, in the four-stage national selection trials for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Raiza secured first place. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has selected her and Maheshwari Chauhan for the skeet women’s event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
