Manu Bhaker was born on 18th February 2002 in Goria village in the Jhajjar district of Haryana. Her father is a chief engineer in the Merchant Navy.
Manu has a highly talented personality. At an early age, she won medals in boxing, skating, and thang ta (a Manipuri martial art), while also participating in tennis at the national and international level.
Manu started shooting at the age of 14. It didn’t take long for her to achieve her first international success.
Top junior-level successes
In the Asian Junior Championships 2017 in Wako City, Manu celebrated her first medal success by securing a silver medal in the 10m air pistol women's event.
In the ISSF Junior World Cup 2018, Manu won three gold medals (including two individual gold medals) and one silver medal in all 10m air pistol events (including mixed team events).
Youth Olympics medal
At the Youth Olympics 2018 in Buenos Aires, Manu won a gold medal in the 10m air pistol women’s event. She became the first Indian shooter and the first Indian female athlete to win a gold medal in the history of the Youth Olympics.
CWG gold medal with an event record
At the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, the 16-year-old Manu won a gold medal in the 10m air pistol women’s event by setting up a new CWG record.
Youngest Indian to win a gold medal in World Cup history
According to the ISSF official website, Manu has won eight gold medals (including one individual), two silver medals (including one individual), and four bronze medals (including three individuals) in the ISSF World Cup. During the ISSF World Cup 2018 in Guadalajara, the 16-year-old Manu became the youngest Indian to win a gold medal in World Cup history.
In the Asian Championships 2019, Manu won three gold medals (10m air pistol women in Doha, 10m air pistol mixed team in Doha, and 10m air pistol women in Taoyuan).
Manu has also shined with four gold medals in the ISSF World Cup Final, including one in an individual event.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Manu participated in three events - 10m air pistol women, 10m air pistol mixed team, and 25m pistol women, where she finished in the 12th, 7th, and 15th places, respectively.

Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan earned Indian Paris 2024 Olympics quotas in the 25m pistol women’s event. Meanwhile, Esha Singh and Palak Gulia secured the Indian 10m air pistol women’s quotas for the upcoming Summer Olympics.
