Maheshwari Chauhan: Early life
Maheshwari Chauhan was born on 4th July 1996 in Siana, Jalore district, Rajasthan. She casually started shooting sports but later decided to make it her sports career.
Although Maheshwari initially worked in trap shooting, she later moved to skeet shooting.
First Indian woman to win a medal in the skeet in an international event
Maheshwari has been competing since 2013. In 2017, she won a bronze medal in the skeet women’s event at the Asian Championships in Astana. It was the first medal in a skeet shooting event by an Indian female in an international event.
In 2024, Maheshwari won another Asian Championships bronze medal in the skeet women’s event in Kuwait City.
How did Maheshwari Chauhan qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics?
In the Olympic Qualification Championship 2024 in Doha, Maheshwari Chauhan booked an Indian quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics in the skeet women’s event after winning a silver medal.
In the four-stage national selection trials for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Maheshwari secured the third position. However, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has selected Maheshwari as one of the two female shooters in the skeet event for the upcoming Summer Olympics after including their performances in recent international competitions along with their national selection trials.
