The 24-year-old Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan is ready for the Paris 2024 Olympics challenge. She will fight in the 10m air rifle women's and 10m air rifle mixed team (along with Sandeep Singh) events.

Elavenil Valarivan: Early life (Multi-talented)
Elavenil Valarivan was born on 2nd August 1999 in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. She is living in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Elavenil was an athlete (sprinter and long-distance athlete) in her childhood. She also played badminton before getting inspired by the shooting sport from her father’s student’s daughter.
Elavenil’s personal shooting coach is Neha Chavan. The young shooter also learned from London Olympics bronze medalist Gagan Narang.
ISSF Junior World Cup debut with a World Record
On her ISSF Junior World Cup debut in 2018 in Sydney, Elavenil shined with a gold medal in the 10m air rifle women’s event, where she also set a new Qualification World Record with a score of 631.4. She has three more Junior World Cup gold medals (two individuals and one mixed team).
Shining early senior career
Elavenil has also shined in her senior career. She has already bagged four gold medals in the ISSF World Cup (two individuals in Rio de Janeiro 2019 and 2023, one mixed team in New Delhi 2021, and one women’s team in Baku 2022).
In the ISSF World Cup Final 2019 in Putian, Elavenil secured a gold medal in the 10m air rifle women’s event.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics
Elavenil participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. While she finished in the 16th place in the 10m air rifle women’s event, her 10m air rifle mixed team ended in the 12th place.
Elavenil Valarivan’s special honours
Elavenil was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2022.
How did Elavenil Valarivan qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics?
At first, Tilottama Sen and Mehuli Ghosh confirmed two Indian Paris 2024 Olympics quotas for the 10m air rifle women’s event.
Later, in the four-stage national selection trials for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Elavenil was the best performer, with a final average score of 633.07.

Elavenil Valarivan will participate in two events at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She will represent India in the 10m air rifle women's and 10m air rifle mixed team (along with Sandeep Singh) events.
