The Gujarat Super League will be a new state-level football league comprised of six football teams battling for the honour. The league is organized by the Gujarat State Football Association and will run parallelly to the Gujarat SFA Club Championship, the highest league in the state. Ahmedabad Avengers, Surat Strikers, Gandhinagar Giants, Vadodara Warriors, Karnavati Knights and Saurashtra Spartans are the teams that will take part. The inaugural season of the Gujarat Super League will begin on 1st May 2024 and end with the final on 10 May 2024. The tournament will be hosted in Ahmedabad with the games taking place at the EKA Arena.
Gujarat Super League Format
The Gujarat Super League will have six teams playing against each other in a single-round robin system. The top two teams at the end of the league stage will qualify for the final to decide the maiden champions. The players were selected through a draft system with 250 players from Gujarat and 36 others from 10 different states. These players have had the experience of playing in various national tournaments like Santosh Trophy, I-League, I-League 2, I-League 3, Durand Cup, AIFF Youth Leagues, Reliance Foundation Development League, and other state leagues.
Gujarat Super League Prize Money
The champions of the Gujarat Super League or GSL will receive a lump sum of Rs 11 lakhs as prize money. The runners of the competition will take Rs 5 lakhs. Individual awards will be on show as well with the best players in eight different categories receiving an amount of Rs 25,000.
