Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2024-25 Final Round

The eight group winners and the two finalists of the last edition are set to compete in the Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2024-25 for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy Final Round vying for the title. The 10 teams have been divided into two groups with the top two moving into the semifinals. The final round will be held in Chhattisgarh with the final staged on December 23, 2024. Record holders Manipur joins two-time winner Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and  Odisha in Group A of the Final Round while runners-up Haryana takes on West Bengal, Punjab, Railways and Sikkim in Group B.

Defending champions Manipur aim to retain their honour for a record-extending 23 titles even though they don’t have skipper Bala Devi in the squad. With a perfect combination of title-winning experience and future stars in the making, the team will be a headache for their opponents again. They share Group A with Tamil Nadu, the only other team that has won the championship in the last seven years, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Odisha. The latter three have not lost a game this season and are looking for their first silverware in history.

Haryana will be desperate to replace their disappointment of losing back-to-back finals placed in Group B with 2015-16 winners Railways, Two-time winners West Bengal, Punjab and Sikkim. Railways also lost consecutive finals in 2019-20 and 2012-22, with the 2020-21 edition cancelled due to the pandemic, but they failed to get into the quarterfinals last time. Bengal are seeking their first title since 1996-97, having ended as runners-up 13 times, after a motivating run to the semi-final in the tournament earlier this year.
