David Warner became First Australian And Third Batter To Record 6 ODI World Cup Centuries

Australian left-handed opening batter David Warner became the first Aussie cricketer and third overall batter to record six ODI World Cup centuries.

On Wednesday (October 25), Australia faced the Netherlands at Delhi. After scoring a big century against Pakistan (163) in their previous game at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, David Warner continued his strong batting performance against the Dutch.

While Australian captain Pat Cummins chose to bat first after winning the toss, Warner provided a solid start. After completing his 50 runs in 40 balls, Warner took 51 balls to complete his next 50 runs. In his 91-ball century, Warner hit 11 fours and three sixes, including hitting a boundary to complete his century.

Before Logan van Beek dismissed Warner, the Aussie left-handed opening batter scored 104 runs in 93 balls.

With his second consecutive century, Warner has recorded six centuries in the Cricket World Cup. Surpassing Ricky Ponting’s five ODI World Cup centuries record, Warner now holds the record for most Cricket World Cup centuries for Australia.   

Meanwhile, in the list of most centuries in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup history, Warner is in the joint second position along with legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, as both hit six Cricket World Cup centuries each. Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma holds the record for most centuries in the ODI World Cup with seven hundreds.
