Indian captain Rohit Sharma ended the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 with another great record. The right-handed batter set up a fresh record for most runs by a captain in a single edition of the ODI World Cup history.
During the big Final at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia at Ahmedabad, captain Rohit Sharma once again fired up in the first power play after they were forced to bat first by the Aussie skipper Pat Cummins.
Rohit Sharma broke Kane Williamson's record
In the first powerplay of the CWC 2023 Final, Indian skipper Rohit scored 47 runs in 31 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. With that innings, Rohit surpassed New Zealand captain Kane Williamson’s previous record for the most runs by a captain in a single edition of the ODI World Cup, who scored 578 runs at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
The right-handed opening batter Rohit scored 597 runs at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. During the tournament, the Indian right-handed batter hit one century, three half-centuries, and also had four more 40+ knocks.
