Just a few hours after Australian star Pat Cummins completed his second successive hat-trick in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, England cricketer Chris Jordan created history by becoming the first English bowler to take a hat-trick in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup history.

It was the do-or-die game for England in their last Super 8 (Group 2) game against the United States of America on Sunday at Bridgetown. England captain Jos Buttler chose to field first after winning the toss in that must-win game.

Although the USA batters fought hard, the English bowlers dominated in the final overs. The USA lost their last five wickets in six balls without adding any runs. In the 19th over, where the English right-arm pacer Chris Jordan delivered his third over of the match, the USA lost four wickets in the first five balls to get bundled out for only 115 runs.

Jordan created history for England by completing a T20 World Cup hat-trick by taking the last three wickets. After dismissing the set batter Corey Anderson (29) on the first ball of the 19th over, Jordan delivered a dot ball on the next ball. In his next three deliveries, Jordan dismissed Ali Khan (0), Nosthush Kenjige (0), and Saurabh Netravalkar (0) to complete his hat-trick. While he bowled Khan and Netravalkar, he trapped Kenjige for an lbw. Jordan ended that innings with bowling figures of 2.5-0-10-4.

In reply, England strongly chased down the target in 9.4 overs without losing any wickets and comfortably booked their place in the semifinals. English captain and opener Jos Buttler scored 83 not out off 38 balls with the help of six fours and seven sixes.
