CM Punk has returned to AEW and he will be in the new show Collision that will air every Saturday with the exception of those weeks when there is a WWE PPV or other sports games. Having CM Punk as the leaf star in that show is a very smart move and he is a big name and therefore will attract eyeballs to the product and the first ratings of the show were great with 816,000 viewers but they are expected to fall by 20% going week to week.
However the past with CM Punk and AEW is still fresh in the minds of everyone in the wrestling world and therefore there are a few Superstars in the company that are not happy that CM Punk is back and that list includes some of the biggest names in AEW.

So, let’s talk about whether the return of CM Punk can prove to be a deterrent for AEW
It can be a deterrent for AEW
The reality is that the return of CM Punk was a controversial one and not everyone was happy with his return because he left the company for the first time on a sour note and he made enemies in the back. CM Punk is the biggest name in that roster and he knows that and so he takes certain liberties with the management. And especially the Elite which has The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page are the ones that are the most upset and Tony Khan cannot afford to keep his biggest wrestlers upset.
Must Read | Will AEW Collision be a success for the company?
The contracts of The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are about to be over and they will once again become free Agents and they will be able to choose whether they want to stay in AEW or make the shocking and unbelievable move to WWE. And if the return of CM Punk did not happen then 100% all these would have signed new contracts by now but the return has complicated things. If they decide to leave AEW and go to WWE because of CM Punk then it will prove to be a huge detriment to the company because all of them are among the first batch of wrestlers from AEW. And Tony Khan will be mentally destroyed if he loses his biggest assets to his biggest rival.
And in the long run AEW will never be sure whether CM Punk will repeat his previous actions or not and CM Punk in a press conference is something that they would like to avoid but they will not be able to avoid forever. And if CM Punk says the type of things yet again that got him out of the company in the first place then everyone will come for Tony Khan and he will have no answers. And the contracts of other Wrestlers are also coming up and CM Punk cannot afford to be upset any more. However if everything goes well then the return of CM Punk will not prove to be a deterrent but that would be living in a fool’s paradise. WWE will be keeping a close watch on all the activities and they would hope for Chaos and they will swoop in and take advantage.
