NXT Battleground was one of the best wrestling PPVs of the entire year and all the NXT Superstars cooked in the entire show. There were a total of 6 matches in the show and they all were close to 5 stars and that generally does not happen in any Show. They were extra motivated because they had to go against Double or Nothing and it will be fair to say that NXT Battleground was the much better show and all the wrestlers who were a part the show should be very proud.
So, let’s look at the results of this show and talk about all these bangers one by one. Shawn Michaels is on a roll as a creative booker.
Wes Lee beat Tyler Bate and Joe Gacy for NXT North American Championship
This was the first match of the night and it was Wes Lee in action in a triple Threat match and as expected this match was a banger and this is a word that will be used for all of the matches of this show. All the 3 wrestlers had very good chemistry in the ring and Tyler Bate showed why he is a generational talent and Joe Gacy finally stepped up and proved that he is a great wrestler and Wes Lee continues to show that he is the best North American Champion of all time and this was a 12 minutes match and in the end it was Wes Lee who beat both his challengers.
Noam Dar beat Dragon Lee for Heritage Cup
This was a dream match for the NXT fans as it saw 2 of the most talented young wrestlers go at it and in this match they both proved why this was such a highly anticipated match. They both were feeling each other for the first minute but then it was bang bang as the momentum never stopped in this match and the fans at the arena had an absolute blast. It was a 12 minutes banger and it looked like Dragon Lee was about to win but it was Noam Dar who won the match and the Heritage Cup.

Ilja Dragunov beat Dijak in a Last Man Standing Match
This match is in contention to be the match of the night and this might be the most brutal match in recent WWE history because these 2 men went out there and they wanted to kill each other because the way in which they were hitting each other looked like they would seriously hurt each other and the fans were feeling uncomfortable watching this but in the best way possible because they were having such a classic. This is how you do a last man standing match and for 16 minutes they put on an absolute barn burner of a match where they used all the weapons like kendo sticks, chairs etc and in the end after an absolute war it was Ilja Dragunov who beat Dijak to win the match.
Gallus beat The Creed Brothers for NXT Tag Team Titles
Our of all the 6 matches of the show this match was the least impressive but It was still 4 stars and way better than any match on Double or Nothing. This was a 10 minutes match but these 2 teams went out there and they put on a show and they showed that in a limited amount of time one can have an excellent match provided they have the skills to do so and this match was everything one wants in a fast paced tag team match and Gallus in the end retained the tag team titles and it is time for The Creed Brothers to go to the main roster because they are ready.
Tiffany Straton beat Lyra Valkyria for NXT Women’s Championship
This match is also in the running for the match of the night along with 2 other matches on this show. This was the final of the NXT Women’s Championship Tournament and it saw Tiffany Straton vs Lyra Valkyria and this was the best women’s match of the weekend. They both are young WWE superstars who want to show the world that they are here and they are ready to shine. This was also the longest match of the show at 17 minutes and they both have great chemistry in their first match which is incredible. It was back and forth but in the end it was Tiffany Straton who won after hitting her picture perfect Moonsault to win her first NXT Women’s Championship.
Carmelo Hayes beat Bron Breakker for NXT Championship
This was the main event for the second NXT PPV in a row and rightfully so this match was the main event and Bron Breakker was determined to win back his NXT Championship and Carmelo Hayes wanted to show everyone that he is HIM. This was a 14 minute match but it looked like 20 because there was so much action throughout the match and Bron Breakker dominated Carmelo Hayes in the early going but the champion made a great comeback and it looked like he would retain but Bron Breakker hit him with a devastating Spear but Melo kicked out and then he hit his finishing move to retain his NXT Championship and now Bron Breakker can come to the main roster because he has nothing to do in NXT.
