There have been a lot of test matches between India and England in history and I have to choose the Top 5 Best Test Matches in history so that’s a very tough task and as an Indian i will try and write about the 5 best wins by the Indian cricket team against England and hopefully the readers also find it fun to read. There is a test match which is ongoing which could be one of the best but we cannot include it here.

This list is from the 1970s till last year and lots of different Indian teams have won memorable test matches and I will write about them here and inform our viewers. So, let’s see the Top 5 Best test matches in India vs England History.


India vs England – The Oval (1971)

This was the match that won India their first series win in England and it came in 1971 under the leadership of Ajit Wadeksr and this Indian team was determined to win a series in England. England made 355 in the first innings and Eknath Solkar got 3 Wickets in this innings. India however were bowled out for 284 in their first innings this giving a 71 run lead in the first innings and then to get England out for 101 in their 2nd innings with Bhagwath Chandrasekhar picking up 6 Wickets in the second innings and in the 4th innings India won by 4 Wickets when they chased down 174 for 6 wickets. It was history made at The Oval.


India vs England – Leeds (2002)

This was the away win in 2002 that ignited the fire in team India to win overseas and they played a perfect test match in not the easiest of conditions to bat but their batting in the first innings took the match away from England when Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly all got Centuries in the same innings and India made 628 in their first innings and then India bowled England our twice under this score to win by an innings and 46 runs and all the Bowlers contributed to this historic win at Leeds.


India vs England – Nottingham (2007)

This was a great test match which had all the ups and downs as England were batting first and got all out for only 198 and Zaheer Khan took 4 wickets and Anil Kumar got 3 Wickets and in reply India made 481 and 5 batters got over 50 and India were in a great advantage but England made 355 in the second innings but that was not enough as India only needed 73 runs in the 4th innings which they chased down with 7 wickets remaining. It was a series winning test match for India.


India vs England – Lord’s (2021)

The next great test match which we will talk about is the win that India had at Lord’s last year and it showed that new India had arrived and the way in which India won that test match was great to see. India made a mammoth 329 runs in the first innings and both the openers shined with Rohit Sharma making 83 runs and KL Rahul making a brilliant 129 runs. England made 391 in reply where Joe Root made 180* of those but I’m the second innings India again made 298 runs and in the fourth Innings England were bowled out with just 60 overs left in the final day and India won the match by 151 runs and Mohammad Siraj got 4 wickets and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3 wickets as England were bowled out for 120 In 51 overs.


India vs England – The Oval (2021)

This test match showed the comeback abilities of India in its truest sense as India could only make 191 in the first innings and they gave a 99 run lead after the first innings but the second batting innings of India changed this test match where India made a mammoth 466 runs and Rohit Sharma starred with 127 runs and England were Bowled out for 210 runs in the fourth Innings and India won this match by 157 runs. It was a sensational win and for the first time 2 wins in the same series and the 5th test match is going on currently.
