The 28-year-old Shriyanka Sadangi secured India’s second quota in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions (R3P) event for the Paris 2024 Olympics after finishing fourth at the Asian Shooting Championships 2023 in Changwon, the Republic of Korea.
On Tuesday (October 31), Shriyanka Sadangi finished in the fourth position in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions (R3P) final event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2023.
South Korean Eunseo Lee won the gold medal with 468.5 points, while China won the other two medals after Jiayu Han (463.3) and Siyu Xia (453.3) finished in second and third place, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sadangi finished in fourth place after accumulating 440.5 points. However, it was enough to secure India’s another shooting quota for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024.
How did Shriyanka Sadangi secure the Indian quota in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event for the Paris 2024 Olympics?
As Lee had already secured the South Korean quota in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event for the Paris 2024 Olympics, and China had already completed the maximum two quotas in each shooting event for every nation, Sadangi completed India’s second quota in the women’s 50m R3P event for the next Summer Olympics. India has now secured 13 shooting quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
However, India won the gold medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event after Shriyanka Sadangi (583 points), Ashi Chouksey (595 points), and Ayushi Podder (588 points) gathered a total of 1766 points. In the meantime, Kazakhstan (1760 points) and Republic of Korea (1759 points) won the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Last August, Sift Kaur Samra secured India’s first quota in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event for the Paris 2024 Olympics after finishing in the fifth position at the ISSF World Championship 2023 in Baku (Azerbaijan).
For the shooting events at the Paris Olympics 2024, every National Olympic Committee (NOC) has the exclusive authority to select the players for the Summer Olympics.
As per the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) selection policy, Indian shooters who have secured an Olympic quota for the Paris 2024 in the rifle and pistol events, will earn a bonus point in the national trials in 2024.
