The 33-year-old Indian right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Shami set up some top records during their match against Sri Lanka at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. He recorded the most ODI World Cup wickets for India and the most ODI five-wicket hauls for India, while he also recorded the most four or more wicket hauls and joint most five-wicket hauls in Cricket World Cup history.
The only unbeaten side at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the hosts India recorded their seventh straight win after thrashing Sri Lanka by 302 runs. With this giant victory, India became the first team to secure a spot in the Semi-finals at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Mohammed Shami destroyed Sri Lanka with a five-wicket haul
After India set up the first batting total of 357/8 in 50 overs after losing the toss, they bundled out Sri Lanka for only 55 runs. While Mohammed Siraj had the bowling figures of 7-2-16-3, and Jasprit Bumrah (5-1-8-1) and Ravindra Jadeja (0.4-0-4-1) collected one wicket each, Player of the Match Mohammed Shami destroyed the Lankan batting line-up with the bowling figures of 5-1-18-5
