In the latest 2023 Mirpur Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Najmul Hossain Shanto became the second Bangladesh cricketer to hit centuries in both innings of a Test match.

Afghanistan sent the hosts Bangladesh to bat first at the beginning of the latest Mirpur Test. The 24-year-old left-handed batter Najmul Hossain Shanto hit his third Test century in the first innings of the Test. His 146 runs secured the hosts’ first innings total of 382 runs.

After Afghanistan were bowled out for 146 runs in their first innings, Shanto once again batted solidly in the second innings to set a giant lead for his national team. While Mominul Haque scored 121 not out in their second innings, Shanto scored 124 runs in that same innings, as their batting helped Bangladesh to manage 425/4 before the declaration.
Chasing down the mammoth 662 runs target, Afghanistan were bundled out only for 115 runs as Bangladesh won the match by whopping 546 runs.
After Mominul Haque, it was time for Shanto
During the 2018 Chattogram Test against Sri Lanka, Mominul Haque recorded twin centuries by scoring 176 and 105 runs to set up a draw. It was the first time a Bangladesh player scored centuries in both innings of a Test match.
Now, Shanto became the second Bangladesh cricketer to record twin centuries in a Test match.
