Bangladesh stunned hosts Pakistan in the first Test of the two-match Test series at Rawalpindi. The visitors Bangladesh won by ten wickets, and it was their first Test win against Pakistan.
After Pakistan scored 448/6 decl. in the first innings, thanks to twin centuries from Saud Shakeel (141) and Mohammad Rizwan (171*), Bangladesh replied with 565 runs with the help of four half-centuries and Mushfiqur Rahim’s 191 runs.
Later, Bangladesh bundled out Pakistan for only 146 runs in their second innings, as the hosts managed to set a fourth-innings target of only 30 runs for the visitors. Bangladesh spinners Shakib Al Hasan (3/44) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (4/21) shared seven wickets in that innings.
In the short fourth innings, Bangladesh openers comfortably completed that 30-run chase to secure their first-ever Test win against Pakistan.
With this win, Bangladesh settled in sixth place in the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship points table (24 points; 40.00 PCT). Meanwhile, Pakistan are now in eighth place in the same points table (22 points; 30.56 PCT).
