During their crucial do-or-die game in the IPL 2023, while the five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a solid victory with another successful 200+ chase, their skipper Rohit Sharma completed 5000 IPL runs for the team. After Virat Kohli, Rohit became the second player in IPL history to record 5000 runs for a team.
It was the match between MI and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), where MI must have to win to stay in the battle for the qualification for the Playoffs in the IPL 2023. After the toss-loser SRH scored 200/5 in the first 20 overs of the match, MI chased the target in 18 overs after losing only both the openers.
At chasing, though the opener Ishan Kishan was dismissed cheaply for 14 runs, skipper and other opener Rohit and the no.3 batter Cameron Green handled the early pressure in solid ways. They had a 128-run partnership for the second wicket, where Rohit scored 56 off 37 balls (eight fours and only six) before losing his wicket.
