Indian captain Rohit Sharma has set up a new world record for most ODI sixes in a calendar year during India’s match against the Netherlands in the last round-robin stage game at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
During the match against Netherlands at Bengaluru, while India scored 410/4 (50 overs) in the first batting, Indian openers skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill set up a powerful 100-run partnership (11.5 overs) for the first wicket. Rohit scored 61 runs in 54 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes.

It was the seventh over of the match where Rohit hit his first six of the match as he hit Colin Ackermann's delivery over long-on. With that sixer, the right-handed batter Rohit set up the new record for most ODI sixes in a calendar year.
South African legendary cricketer AB de Villiers was the previous record holder for most ODI sixes in a calendar year with 58 ODI sixes in 2015.
Rohit has now hit 60 ODI sixes in 2023. The Indian right-handed batter has a strong chance to extend this record this calendar year.
