Paul Pogba recently uploaded a photo on Instagram urging people to stop Asian hate. The Frenchman also wrote a message that read "Why must we live in a world where we have to fight to be loved? We must celebrate diversity with compassion. This needs to end"
Paul Pogba is a subject to immense hate by a section of fans around the world. This hate often goes beyond the football pitch, Pogba was a victim of racial abuse himself after missing a penalty against wolves in a Premier League match back in 2019. Manchester United and its players took a stand against the abuse on Pogba but it seemed to have no effect when United players Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Axel Tuanzebe were victims of similar abuse after a goalless draw at Arsenal this season. Pogba along with teammate Marcas Rashford was one of the most vocal football personalities talking about racism during the civil unrest in the United States following the death of George Floyd.
Paul Pogba often uses his social media to voice his opinion against issues like racism. This time the Manchester United midfielder has raised his voice against racism towards Asians. 'Asian Hate' is a growing problem in western countries since the Covid outbreak. The Virus is bizarrely nicknamed the 'China-virus' or 'Kung-flu' due to its Chinese origin. People have gone to different heights of hatred and stereotypes to verbally and physically abuse people of Asian descent. Attacks on Asian-Americans during pandemic renew criticism that the U.S. undercounts hate crimes. In the United Kingdom, racist hate crimes against Asians have massively increased since the arrival of the pandemic. Pogba with his loud and clear message has urged his fans to raise their voices to end this discrimination.
The midfield wizard was recently seen in a Pepsi Advert along with Lionel Messi. Paul Pogba is currently sidelined with a thigh injury he suffered against Everton and is expected to be out for another two weeks.
