The 14th edition of the Women’s Euro Championship is set to be hosted in Switzerland from July 2 to 27, 2025, and promises to be another record-breaking event for women’s football in Europe. This will be the third edition since the tournament was expanded to 16 teams with five sides crowned champions in its history. Women’s Euro 2025 will be played over eight venues with 14 teams having competition experience. Poland and Wales will make their first appearances in a major finals tournament. The teams are divided into four groups with the top two sides advancing to the quarterfinal stage. The final will be played at the St. Jakob-Park in Basel. England is the defending champion after defeating Germany at Wembley in 2022 in front of a record sell-out crowd.
Here are the groups and fixtures of Women’s Euro 2025:
Group A
Switzerland
Norway
Iceland
Finland
Host Switzerland will face the three Nordic countries Norway, Iceland and Finland in Group A having also met the former in the 2023 Women’s World Cup group stage. That fixture ended goalless with two-time Euro champions Norway exiting the tournament prematurely so they will seek revenge against the Swiss in the group opener against them. Nevertheless, both will be favourites to take the top two spots in the group with Switzerland making it into a third straight Euro in history while Norway are appearing for a joint-record 13th time. The underdogs in the group, Iceland and Finland are making their fifth appearance.

Group B

Italy
World Champions Spain are drawn with Iberian rivals Portugal, Belgium and Italy making them the favourites to win Group B. La Roja has won all accolades but the European Championship in the women’s division so they will be gunning for the only piece of silverware remaining to win in their history. Joining them could be Italy who are desperate to replace their woeful Euro 2022 with a better showing this time after having a positive qualifying campaign. However, they face familiar foes Belgium in the group stage again with the Red Devils qualifying for the knockouts of the last edition instead. Portugal might face the same fate of elimination from the group stages just like their previous appearances although their debut World Cup heroics might motivate them to cause an upset.

Record eight-time winners Germany are placed in a tricky group alongside Denmark, inaugural winners Sweden and debutant Poland throwing a severe challenge. Die Nationalelf are willing to top the group despite the last edition’s finalists exiting at the group stages of the Women’s World Cup in 2023. The Danes are making their 11th appearance in the tournament and will have a battle with the Swedes, making their 12th appearance, for the second spot. Poland should not be underestimated with their record scorer Ewa Pajor could turn out to be a headache for the top sides in the group.

Group D
France

Netherlands
The ‘group of death’ of Women’s Euro 2025 was set with three giants France, Netherlands and Eurpo holders England drawn against each other alongside debutants Wales. Undoubtedly, Group D will be the focal point of the group stage in the competition making it unpredictable with one heavyweight guarantee to miss out on the knockouts. France finished above England in the qualifying stage so they are a force to be reckoned with but the Lionesses are favourites to defend the trophy having also reached the Women's World Cup final. Sarina Wiegman became the first manager to win the Euros for a different side back-to-back and will have to face her ex-team Netherlands, whom she guided to 2017 success, in a dream reunion match. The holders will also play a British derby against Wales tasting their first major tournament after beating the Republic of Ireland in the playoffs to qualify.
