Despite an underwhelming campaign in which they finished a low eighth in the Premier League, Manchester United won the FA Cup by beating city rivals and defending champions Manchester City thereby qualifying for the Europa League. Manager Erik Ten Hag was retained by the club's new co-owners, meaning the Dutch will serve for a third consecutive season since his appointment in 2022. The Red Devils have also made some key signings this summer window after the change in hierarchy with dead woods sold. The club hopes the new season brings much more promise to make them an able contender for the league title although they still have a lot of grounds to cover.
Manchester United begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign at home to Fulham on Friday 16 August 2024. The team has one of the toughest openings to a league season as they will face tricky Brighton away next before taking on Liverpool, under a new manager this time, back at home in the first North-West derby. After this, the Red Devils have a slightly favourable schedule but the Christmas period will pin them against Arsenal and holders Manchester City and ending the year against Newcastle at OId Trafford. The opening fixture of the New Year is against Liverpool at Anfield making the challenge way stiffer. Manchester United conclude their season at home against Aston Villa on 25 May 2025.
