Nottingham Forest stunned the hosts Liverpool in the fourth gameweek of the Premier League 2024/25, as the Forest claimed a 1-0 win at Anfield. It was their first win at Anfield in more than 55 years.

Under the new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool started the new season by winning all first three matches without conceding a goal. Meanwhile, before this away fixture, Forest were also undefeated in this early PL 2024/25, but with two home draws and one away victory.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was the hero

On Saturday, Nottingham Forest stopped Liverpool’s fine start at the PL 2024/25 with a 1-0 victory. English winger Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the solitary and decisive goal of the match in the 72nd minute.

It was Arne Slot’s first defeat as a Liverpool manager, who joined the Reds this season after Jürgen Klopp ended his contract with the club at the end of last season.

Apart from this result, the last four-time PL champions Manchester City continued their winning streak by beating Brentford at home by 2-1 despite conceding a goal in the first minute of the game. In the ongoing PL season, now only the Citizens have maintained a 100% win record.

Meanwhile, Liverpool suffered their first defeat against Nottingham Forest after winning the previous three fixtures. Forest previously beat the Reds in October 2022, where the hosts won by 1-0 in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest previously won at Anfield in 1969

On the other hand, it was Nottingham Forest’s first win at Anfield since 1969. The last time Forest beat the hosts Liverpool was back in February 1969 during the League Divison One, where Forest beat the Reds at Anfield by 2-0.

Since October 1969, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest have met 61 times till their latest Anfield meeting. While the Reds recorded 30 victories, Forest secured 13 wins, including the latest one at Anfield, and the other 18 matches ended with draw results.
