During the third game at the Nepal Tri-Nation T20I Series in 2024, Netherlands batters Michael Levitt and Sybrand Engelbrecht set up a new world record by producing the highest second-wicket T20I partnership.
After the Netherlands chose to bat first, they scored 247/5 in 20 overs. Although the opener Max O’Dowd (5) was dismissed cheaply in the third over, his opening partner Michael Levitt and the no.3 batter Sybrand Engelbrecht set up a T20I world record partnership to guide the Dutch team to the giant T20I total.
Michael Levitt and Sybrand Engelbrecht set up a 193-run partnership for the second wicket. It was the highest second-wicket partnership in T20I cricket history. The previous record was 183 runs partnership between the Scottish players Ollie Hairs and Brandon McMullen against Italy during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier 2023.
In the Netherlands vs Namibia match, while Engelbrecht scored 75 runs in 40 balls (seven fours and five sixes), opener Levitt recorded a 49-ball T20I hundred and scored 135 runs in 62 balls (11 fours and ten sixes).
In reply, Namibia scored 188/7 in 20 overs as the Netherlands won by 59 runs. Namibian Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, who recorded the fastest T20I century in his last game against the hosts Nepal in this tri-series opener, scored 11 runs in the match.
