2022 has been the craziest year as far as wrestling news goes because the Wrestling business changed forever in 2022 and there are some extraordinary news stories and this year has seen some of the biggest news stories which would have been number 1 in any other year other than this one. 2022 has seen some controversies and we will talk about them below.
Ranking these news stories will be a tough task but the number 1 is known to everyone and it is just the rest of the slots that have to be given in this list and there will be some important news stories that will be left out of this list. So, let’s get into this list.
5) Stone Cold Steve Austin returns to have a wrestling match after 19 Years
This would have been number 1 or 2 in any other year but such has been the year that this is number 5. Stone Cold having a match after 19 years was a big deal and the rumors had been going around for a long time and finally at WrestleMania 38 we saw the results and Kevin Owens had his dream match vs Stone Cold Steve Austin and it was an incredible match.

4) The Crazy Year of William Regal
William Regal had one of the craziest years of all time because at the start of this year he was fired by WWE which was a shocker and then a few months later we saw him appear in AEW and he was having a great run and was managing MJF and during the end of the year he went to Tony Khan and requested that he be allowed to go to WWE to be with his son and so starting in 2023 , William Regal will start again in WWE as it’s Vice President
3) Sasha Banks and Naomi walk out of WWE
This was a huge story when it broke 7 months back and it was a Raw where she did not agree with one of the creative choices and they had an argument and she walked out of WWE with Naomi with the tag team titles and WWE was dealt a huge blow and it now looks like she will not be returning to WWE and instead she will going to NJPW and Wrestle in Wrestle Kingdom. Really happy for her but a huge loss for WWE.
There are 2 news stories that are tied for number 2 because they are equally big and leaving one of them out will not be fair.

2) The Media Scrum from Hell
AEW had a great show at All Out where CM Punk became the World Champion and a lot of big stars had returned and they were in a good position. However what happened at the media scrum was something that neither ARE not Tony Khan would have expected as CM Punk who won the title went all out at the event and bashed everybody in the company and even those who were outside and it embarrassed the company and the Fallout was huge because CM Punk had left AEW for good and The Young Bucks and Kenn Omega were suspended.

2) Cody Rhodes leaves AEW and returned to WWE
This news story was too big to be left out of this list and thus this is tied for the number 2 spot because when it happened it was a big story because it was unexpected and the Wrestling world was in shock and WrestleMania 38 and the rumors were big that he would be at the show and then Seth Rollins had a mystery opponent and then Cody Rhodes appeared at the stage and the Wrestling world changed as now wrestlers from AEW were coming to WWE.
1) Vince McMahon retires from WWE and Triple H takes control of creative
There was simply no other story in wrestling that was bigger than this one and this story was the biggest news story of the decade and nothing could Top it because Vince McMahon was WWE and the Wrestling world had accepted that he would never retire but the stories that came out of him paying hush money to women in millions of dollars was enough for him to step down and not only that but Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan became the Co-CEOs of WWE and Triple H was made the head of creative and WWE has been much better since and now the fans are once again excited by WWE and looking forward to Royal Rumble and WrestleMania in the new year.
