What does one say about this match that hasn’t been said before? This match for the Universal Championship was long overdue and all the WWE fans have been wanting to see these two former Shield members square off in a PPV match since the Banger they had at money in the bank in 2016 so it’s been more than 5 years since they faced off in a big PPV event and what better occasion to do it than the Royal Rumble with over 60000+ fans watching.
Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have unbelievable in ring chemistry, it’s as if they are wrestling soulmates and to see them facing off for the big one with both of them being very different versions of themselves than the last time they faced each other is very intriguing and has all the promise to be a royal Rumble classic. Let’s look at the glorious past of these two and how we got here.
Starting in FCW and NXT run
Both of these incredible young talents joined the Florida Championship Wrestling in Tampa in 2009 and there they were groomed together in the various aspects of the wrestling game. Since Seth Rollins was one of the best wrestlers already , he needed work on his promo skills and whereas Roman needed overall development on his wrestling and promos and Seth Rollins used to help him in FCW on his wrestling and they both used to have matches against each other so that Roman could learn the craft in a better way.

When it was felt that both these young stars are ready to go to the next stage in their wrestling careers then they were used on NXT for a few years and there Seth Rollins was the first face of the brand as it’s NXT Champion and Roman kept improving on his gane every single day and in 2012 they both left NXT for the main roster.
The Shield
Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins along with Dean Ambrose debuted at Survivor Series in 2012 in the three man group known as The Shield. They crested havoc everywhere and very early were established as the next big stars of WWE and they won the tag team gold for a long period of time and were inseparable and helped each other in their careers as well and it was a 2 year glorious run with them 3 becoming the future of the company.

Initial success after the Shield
When The Shield separated in 2014, it wax unsure of how the three members would do individually but Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins got instant success straight after as Seth Rollins joined the Authority and won the money in the bank case and Roman was established as the face of the company but from the year 2015 , Roman Reigns started getting disliked from the fans as they felt he was being thrust upon them and whereas Seth Rollins was this great heel who was having Banger matches.

Money in the bank
At the 2016, Money in the bank Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins had their first ever one on one match at PPV for the WWE championship and it wax a time classic, both Roman and Seth had such great chemistry from the start that it looked like a marriage playing out and the reversals and the moves they did were awesome and the fans loved every second of it. Seth Rollins beat Roman Reigns in that match and from there on the fans have been clamouring for another match.

The Visionary vs The Tribal Chief
As the heading suggests that now when Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns will face off for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble this year they will be completely different characters from where they were before. Roman Reigns is the Tribal Chief and he has the longest Universal Championship reign at for 504 days and has beaten everyone and on the other hand Seth Rollins with his fancy suits and his new heel character and climbed the ladder of success as well so these are two experienced, cerebral versions of themselves so all the fans can expect an all time classic from these two incredible wrestlers.
