Top 5 Bargain Buys at IPL Auction 2023

The IPL Auction is about a lot of things but one of the most important things is how often can a team but a player for lesser the price than they should go for and those are called Bargain Buys or Smart Buys at the auction and just like every auction we saw some bargain buys in the auction and a few from one team which we will talk about below.

Before we talk about the Top 5 Bargain Buys of the IPL auction, I have to say that the teams have become very smart as to how much to spend on which player in the auction and when they get the player they want for much less than they were hoping for then it is a great thing. So, let’s look at the Top 5 Bargain Buys at IPL Auction 2023.

Phil Salt – 2 Crores (Delhi Capitals)

Among the best Bargain Buys at the auction was Phil Salt from England as Delhi Capitals got him at an absolute steal at his base price. Phil Salt is one of those players that can change the game in an instant and one of the stars to watch out for and he would be hoping to perform at the biggest stage to further his career.

Adil Rashid – 2 Crores (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Sunrisers Hyderabad made some really expensive buys at the auction but perhaps their best buy was getting the champion leg spinner Adil Rashid at just base price at 2 crores which is a steal and they would have hoped that Adil Rashid would go for much higher but to their surprise no one bid for him and thus they got one of the best let spinners at such a bargain.

Narayan Jagadessan – 90 Lakhs (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Kolkata Knight Riders had the least purse at the IPL auction but they made a couple of steals at the auction and one of them was getting the hottest domestic player in India for just 90 Lakhs. KKR must have surely thought that Narayan Jagadessan would go for much higher but to get such an important player for so less is a huge bargain.

Kane Williamson – 2 Crores (Gujarat Titans)

Whatever we might say about the form of Kane Williamson, it is still him and he is still one of the best players in the world and getting him at his base price is a steal and especially for Gujarat Titans who needed him the most and he can bat in the middle order as well. So a great bargain buy.

Litton Das – 50 Lakhs (Kolkata Knight Riders)

I talked before about one team having 2 players in this list of bargain buys and I think getting Litton Das for his base price of 50 lakhs was a steal and a masterstroke. Litton Das has shown that he is in the form of his life and he would want to show at the IPL that he is ready for the big stage and KKR have made a very good investment.
