Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal created history in the IPL 2023 as he became the first Indian uncapped player to score 600 runs in a single season of the premier domestic competition. Jaiswal went on to surpass former Australia batter Shaun Marsh's record to become the leading run-scorer in an IPL season from an uncapped player. The talented left-handed batter - who played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in IPL 2008 - aggregated 619 runs in his debut season.
The exceedingly talented left-handed batter from Mumbai continued to raise his stocks with his consistent batting performance in the tournament and forcing the national selectors to take notice of his talent and ability.
Jaiswal - who has been one of the most exciting young batters in the domestic circuit - has been one of the most consistent players in the tournament. He also became the fourth batter under 25 years of age to score 600-plus runs in a single season of the competition.
Jaiswal finished the league stage of the IPL 2023 with 625 runs, averaging 48.08, and a strike rate of 163.6. His score of 124 is also the highest score by an uncapped player. He's also the second youngest cricketer to score 600 runs in a season.
