Most Expensive Foreign Players in the IPL 2023 Auction

Yesterday we had another IPL Auction and now that the auction is in the books, it is time to write about the major events that took place on the important day. The IPL Auction is always a day full of excitement and nervousness and we see some players becoming millionaires and some young unknown players get so much that their life is sorted and they can focus on their cricket.

Before we start writing the article, I want to say that this was one of the craziest IPL Auctions of all time because of all the high prices that the players went for in this mini auction. The players would not have expected to go at such a high price and now they will have to be available for the full IPL and perform at their best.

So, let’s take a look at the Top 5 Most Expensive Foreign players of IPL Auction 2023

Sam Curran – 18.50 Crores (Punjab Kings)

The most expensive buy from the IPL auction yesterday and also the most expensive IPL player of all time is Sam Curran. It was expected that Sam Curran would go for a lot of money but hardly anyone thought that he would go for this huge sum. A total of 5 teams were interested in him and they were willing to pay anything for him. Especially Punjab Kings who let him go in the first place and now they have brought him back again at 18.50 crores and I hope that the price tag does not affect his performance.

Cameron Green – 17.50 Crores (Mumbai Indians)

The second most expensive player in this auction was the young Australian all rounder in Cameroon Green and he is also the second most expensive IPL player of all time. Mumbai Indians who were not able to get Sam Curran went all out for him and there was competition. They were firm that they wanted Cameron Green in their side and Mumbai Indians looked a dangerous side with his addition.

Ben Stokes – 16.25 Crores (Chennai Super Kings)

This was a surprising buy not because of the price but because the team which brought him broke the bank for him and there is a good reason that Ben Stokes was bought by Chennai Super Kings. Ben Stokes is a great captain and they need a captain after MS Dhoni retires in 2023. 16.25 crores makes Ben Stokes the joint 3rd highest IPL bid in history.

Nicholas Pooran – 16.00 Crores (Lucknow Supergiants)

This was the most shocking buy of the whole auction because 16 crores is a lot of money for Nicholas Pooran. There is no doubt that Pooran is a great player and he can play match winning innings and is a great fielder but 16 crores is a bit much but I am happy for him that he has earned such a big payday. I hope he is able to perform on the big stage and not focus on the price tag.

Harry Brook – 13.25 Crores (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

I am very happy for Harry Brook and he deserves all the money he is getting because he is one of the best players from England who is playing international cricket. 13.25 crores is a life changing amount for Harry Brook and I hope that he will be a great player for the team for a long period of time. Looking forward to seeing him play.
