On Monday Tottenham Hotspur announced the sacking of Jose Mourinho and his assistants after Spurs have won only 1 of their last 6 games under the Portuguese. Tottenham currently sit 7th on the Premier League table 5 points behind 4th placed West Ham. The club also announced that youth team coach Ryan Mason conducted the first teams training session that was due to take place.
In March, spurs faced a major setback after losing a Europa League tie to Dinamo Zagreb despite having a 2-0 first-leg lead. Club Chairman, Daniel Levy in an official statement said: "Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a Club. Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level, I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution."
Some reports suggest that Jose Mourinho refused to take the squad onto the training ground after Spurs became one of the founding members of the newly found European Super League and was sacked following a heated argument. This could very well be true as sacking a manager without a proper replacement is not something that is done if there isn't a huge problem. If Spurs appoint Ryan Mason as the Interim Manager or go with someone else remains to be seen.
