The SmackDown after WrestleMania 40 was one of the best episodes of TV that WWE has produced this year. This felt like a true new season after the season finale at Wrestlemania 40. This show had a lot of segments and matches that were top-tier. This show took place in Detroit, Michigan. More than 15,000 fans filled the arena.

Cody Rhodes opens SmackDown
Cody Rhodes came out to open the show, and as the WWE Champion, he gets all the privileges. The locker room of The Bloodline now belongs to Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes cut a promo on The Rock and said that he would be waiting for him whenever he decides to come back to WWE. He then said that in three weeks at WWE Backlash, he would defend the WWE Championship.
LA Knight wins the Triple Threat Match
The first of two Triple Threat matches took place on SmackDown, and it was LA Knight vs Santos Escobar vs Bobby Lashley. It was a very good match, and all three men gave it their all. LA Knight was the most dominant of the three wrestlers in that match. The WWE Championship is not a part-time title anymore, and it is great for all WWE superstars. LA Knight will go next week for an opportunity to be the number one contender.
Solo Sikoa alters The Bloodline storyline
Next was the most important segment of the show. It was Paul Heyman with Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. Paul Heyman cut a promo as to how Roman Reigns lost his focus, and he chose to take out Seth Rollins at WrestleMania instead of Cody Rhodes. As he was going on, Solo Sikoa cut him and asked him if there must be consequences for losing at WrestleMania. He then calmly made Paul Heyman sit back, and then he orchestrated an attack on Jimmy Uso. Tama Tonga made his WWE debut in a big way, and then they took out Jimmy Uso. Solo Sikoa broke the phone of Paul Heyman, and then at the back, Tama Tonga came to Paul Heyman and said he did that on the orders of his Tribal Chief. Solo Sikoa appears and laughs.
Bayley finds new challengers
Bayley came out to celebrate her win. She was given a great reception by the 15,000 fans in Detroit, Michigan. She was happy, and she said that it was good to have the love of the fans once again. Then she wanted challengers, and Tiffany Straton interrupted her and challenged her, and then it was Naomi who came out. They had a match, and it was a great match. These two women showed that they had great chemistry, and it was Naomi who won the match. She will face Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship next week.
AJ Styles wins a fantastic main event
It was time for the main event of the evening, and it was the Triple Threat match between AJ Styles vs Rey Mysterio vs Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens made a fantastic entrance as he was talking while getting into the ring, and he threw away a CM Punk shirt. He was at his comedic best. The match was absolutely incredible, as it was three of the best going at it. The match showed how much the WWE Championship means in wrestling. They beat the heck out of each other, and AJ Styles won this match. It will be AJ Styles vs LA Knight next week to determine the number one contender for the WWE championship for WWE Backlash.
