Many rate the Premier League as the toughest league in the world. It is because teams with small budgets give a strong fight to top teams with massive budgets. This past Sunday, Liverpool brushed past West Brom 2-1 to secure three points. This win can turn out to be one of the most important wins this season. They are now closer to the top four and if Chelsea drops points, Liverpool will grab the fourth Champions League spot.

However, it wasn’t the Liverpool team that made the headlines. It was their goalkeeper Alisson Becker who made headlines after scoring a 95th-minute winner. There’s nothing better than the feeling of watching your goalkeeper score in the dying minutes. After Alisson’s goal, there are a total of six goalkeepers in Premier League history to score a goal for their team. Let’s take a look at them.

1. Peter Schmeichel (Aston Villa)

The former Aston Villa and Manchester United goalkeeper was the first goalkeeper to score a goal in the Premier League. He scored Aston Villa’s second goal in a 3-2 loss at the hands of Everton. It was a perfect volley into the back of the net from Peter. However, despite his late goal, it was too late to decide the game as the Villans lost the game. Schmeichel has scored an impressive 13 goals in his career. Most of his goals came for Hvidovre in Denmark. The most important goal scored by him was against Rotor Volgograd in the UEFA Cup. It was United’s equalizer in the UEFA Cup tie.

2. Brad Fiedel (Blackburn Rovers)

The American goalkeeper scored Blackburn’s equalizer against Charlton Athletic in February 2004. He scored the equalizer for his team in the 90th minutes, who were 2-1 down. However, his effort was wasted as there was still time left for a winner and Claus Jensen pounced on Charlton's winner in the added time. Blackburn lost the game 3-2.

3. Paul Robinson (Tottenham Hotspur)

Paul Robinson scored his only Premier League goal from 75 years out in 2007. Robinson took a freekick from 75 yards out trying to find the striker. But the ball bounced in front of Bed Forster and went over his head for the goal. Tottenham won the game 3-1 against Watford. Robinson scored another goal in a League Cup game against Leeds United.

4. Tim Howard (Everton)

Another American on our list, Tim Howard has somewhat of legendary status at Everton. He scored a goal for Everton from a clearance from 101 yards out. He punted the ball from his own penalty area and the ball bounced ridiculously high for his counterpart Adam Bogdan and went in for the goal. However, Bolton made a comeback in the game and won 2-1 through goals from Ngog and Gary Cahill.

5. Asmir Begovic (Stoke City)

Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic not only scored the only goal of his career, but he also made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest goal scored. But that record was broken by Tom King of Newport. He scored in just 13 seconds as the long punt bounced ahead of Boruc and ballooned over him to find the net. However, Southampton manages to score the equalizer and the game ended 1-1.

6. Alisson Becker (Liverpool)

Liverpool were drawing 1-1 against West Brom as their Champions League hopes were fading. Liverpool won a corner in the added time and Alisson got Klopp’s nod to join others for the corner. Trent took the corner and the Brazilian jumped to head the ball into the net to win the game for the Reds. Five other goalkeepers have scored goals in the league but Alisson’s goal is easily the most important one. Alisson became the only Liverpool goalkeeper to score a goal.
